Added a Motone Lucas style fender eliminator kit
« on: May 12, 2016, 10:05:00 PM »
Before:

After:

After stripping the threads out of the old rear light fixture, I decided to swap the whole assembly out for a fender eliminator kit.  Install was very straightforward, I spent more time splicing and heat shrinking wires for the turn signals than anything else.

Nicely done.   Yeah, the electrics are always the most time consuming with those kits.  I love the look - gave my TBS the same treatment.

Of course, as soon as I touch anything electrical, I screw it up.  Apparently because of the LED brake light replacing the incandescent, now all 4 turn signals flash when I activate them.  The turn signals themselves are incan, but it doesn't seem to matter.  I've only just started reading up on what I need to do, but it seems to involve soldering some diodes in, which is really annoying.
