Track Bodywork Completed!
« on: January 21, 2017, 08:56:20 PM »
Picked up the Daytona from Xtreme this morning.  Woodcraft bodywork and rearsets installed.  Very happy with the quality of the parts and Xtreme did an amazing job on the installation.

Ultimately, I may have been able to do it myself but it would have been a struggle to find the time to get it done before the first track day.  Plus, I'm sure it wouldn't have come out as good. Ted did a great job of re-routing and securing the wiring and mounting the voltage regulator in the nose.  And Ron had all the OEM parts packed up in a box for me, ready to go.  Thanks Ron!  Final step is to get it painted, but no rush on that as I'm still undecided on exactly what I want to do there. If it comes down to it I'm ready to hit the track as is.

I appreciate the kudos, so does Ted! I must give credit where credit is due, Ted boxed everything up, I just did the heavy lifting.
You made a great choice on the bodywork. Looks pretty well made and has some nice lines.

Yeah, I did the research on the bodywork.  The Woodcraft stuff is probably the best value without compromising durability.  The consensus is that the cheaper Chinese made plastic is way tougher to fit and then it shatters into a million pieces with even a minor crash.  This stuff seems even sturdier then the OEM plastics.  Amazing how many little tabs, brackets and filler panels there are with the OEM bodywork!   This is literally 5 pieces including the front fender.  It was a real pain getting to the oil filter with the stock stuff.  Now I can get that belly pan off in seconds for oil changes.

Paul at Xtreme was really helpful too - he called them a couple times and got some good tips on adding the heat shielding and the folding tips for the brake and gear shift levers.  Again, the Woodcraft rearsets are a good value.  Not a lot of bling there, but a solid functional piece of kit for a reasonable price compared to what's out there.  Full report after the first track day!

Yeah, the only finger effort involved so far was removing my credit card from my wallet!

Figure I'll close out this thread with a pic now that the bike's finished.  Very happy with the Woodcraft bodywork.  The stuff is a little more expensive than some of the other brands out there, but seems pretty durable and fits the bike like a glove.  Xtreme did a great job of fitting and installing the stuff, and Bart at DC Paintworx was awesome to deal with.
