Some Tentative Spring Track Dates...
« on: March 04, 2017, 11:26:17 PM »
I'm starting to think about the first few track dates for the spring.  Still waiting for the Daytona's bodywork to come back from the painter, but hoping it will be done in the next week or two.

Can't 100% commit to these dates yet, but just putting them out there.  Mondays have about half the attendance as the weekend days, so I'm planning to work in as many of those in as possible.

    • Monday 3/27, TPM @ Thunderbolt - they are also there on Sunday 3/26, and could be persuaded to go for that day if it works better for everyone else.
    • Sat/Sun 4/8&9, TPM @ Thunderbolt - considering either or both dates this weekend.
    • Monday 4/17, EvolveGT @ Thunderbolt - A couple of the Evolve guys invited me to this one.  They are a good group and actually have better coaching than TPM.  CCBMW sponsors track days with these guys.
    • Sat 4/22, TPM @ Lightning - have not ridden Lightning yet, so need to check out this season.
    • Friday 4/28, TPM @ Thunderbolt - a rare Friday track day to kick off the weekend!

    Post up with interests/suggestions!

I  am in for 3/26. Can't do 4/8or 9 as working. 4/17 is doable as is 4/22.

Sounds good.  I'm tentative on the March dates right now, depending on how I feel - but if the weather looks great as we get closer it will be hard to resist.  Will post updates as it gets closer...

None of them have specific supermoto classes as far as I know.   But each of these track day clubs offer basic and advanced track riding classes at most tack days.  Check out the TPM or EvolveGT websites for more info.

I would assume that any bike that passes tech inspection can be used?

Yes - maybe I misinterpreted "class" as instructional class instead of bike class in the OP?  Regardless of the style of your bike you will just run in the class that suits your skill level.  Doesn't matter if you're on a DRZ400, R1 or Harley, you'll all run together.   There is no designated group for supermoto style bikes.  There are usually a few out there in each group - and for some reason the guys out on supermotos tend to know what they are doing.  I can't remember passing any of them, but sure remember some of them passing me!

Sweet!  That's pretty much what I expected you to say Don!  I'll post up when I can confirm which ones I'm a definite for and start registering.

Awesome.   I was just planning on leaving mine with him after the first track day instead of making a special trip.  Should be getting the body work back this weekend - after that I'll be ready to go.

The Daytona is officially ready!  Picked up the plastics from the painter this morning.  Bart did a bang up job - unfortunately, now I'm just as afraid to dump the bike as I was with the OEM bodywork!  Costs on this project got out of hand as well, probably could have purchased a full set of OEM plastics for what this whole thing cost me, but in the end it will be easier to perform maintenance.  And of course repairs in the case of a get off...

I'll be sporting #64 this season, so I should be easy to spot!
