Massive, massive bummer. He's been a big part of my musical life since I was High School in the early- mid '70's, his early and most eye- opening, creative period. Stood inches away from him at a nasty James Chance and the Contortions show at Mudd Club. Was just streaming his new album last week. RIP, indeed, I don't know of a more influential and CH-Ch-Changeable artist in my lifetime.

His Ziggy Stardust phase was a huge influence. His song Time still blows me away.  Ashes to Ashes has been playing in my head all morning

He was a artist that was always changing. Always at the cutting edge no matter what medium he choose. Definitely one of my all time favorites.
